"The X-Files", "The truth is out there"!!!

When I was a child I was a fan of a very famous T.V series that was on Fox channel around those years. The serie was called "The x-files". It was about a couple of F.B.I. agents, agent Fox Mulder, who was a sociologist dedicated to study the paranormal activity, specially the UFO fenomena; and agent Dana Scully, who was a forensic medical doctor, dedicated to put to the test all of Mulder`s work. The serie went on over a decade and was so popular that a series of movies were produced on its basis. The main subject of the story was centred on the abduction of Mulder`s sister, Samantha, and the consequent search for the truth behind that event. The series took a lot of paranormal themes from religious beliefs, myths, and folklore, and it had, besides the main line of argument, a secondary one, that was developed into separated chapters. By the end of the saga, Mulder and Scully were able to find "The Truth" behind a very complex and intrincate series of plots by the USA government in coalition with a kind of extraterrestrial entities. This year, 2016, marking the 10th anniversary of the show, a number of five episodes were released to the public, given account of what happened with the two agents, and giving a new twist to the plot.

The best concert i have ever seen!

Wow, what a question! The best concert I`ve ever seen was a Rush`s concert in December 2010. It was here in Santiago, Chile, at the national stadium, but I can say that it was simply out of this world!!! Rush is a Canadian progressive rock band, that has a forty-year long career, and over twenty albums released since the mid 70`s. To me, the quality of their live playing is outstanding, they play very complex compositions, with a "virtuosismo" that is over the average for a rock musician. They also have very interesting and deep lyrics, that are poems themselves. I wanted to see a Rush concert since I have memory, but they have never come to Chile before, so that was the first and last opportunity I had, and I almost missed it! I didn`t have a ticket for the show, but a friend of mine could not go, and he offered to sell me his ticket for a very low price!!! Well, Rush is an awesome band, I `d like to share one of my favourite songs here: The trees!!!

Oh, la, la, Paris!

Well, coincidentally, I really want to go to France, same as the teacher! I have been interested in visiting France since I was a child. When I was at school I had the oportunity to know about the French culture, I learned the language which I can understand (mostly read), and also, I had a very nice teacher who taught me about Paris, the city. I learned about the Eiffel`s tower, L`arc du triomphe, Le Louvre, Les touileries, Notre Dame, and more. Since about a year ago I have had a very good friend who is French herself. With her, I have had the opportunity to learn more about French writers, philosophers, painters, poets, film directors, and to dig deeper in their work, understanding also the context of their culture. Something that is very interesting for me is the French history, their fundamental role in the development of politics around the world. French revolution, the human rights declaration, the Algeria war, and right now, France involvement in the war against ISIS. At the present I am learning more about the language and I`d really like to go to France, to study, or at least, to go on vacations for a short period.

My first Post.

Hi, my name is Cristian Salgado, I am thirty and some years old. I have a former degree in medicine, and at the present time I am coursing the 4th grade of psychology at the University of Chile.

I think I have a proper handling of the English language. I can read, write and maintain a conversation in the language, but I have some problems with some specific matters of the syntax. My expectations for this class are to be able to improve my oral skills, and to learn more about the language.
